Chelsea have started the 2014/15 Premier League season in ominous fashion, winning six and drawing just one of their first seven games as Jose Mourinho attempts to claim his first silverware since returning as Blues boss.

Mourinho won two titles in his first spell at Stamford Bridge, but his critics have often pointed to the amount of money spent in that time as a large reason for his success.
This time round, though, Chelsea haven't spent anything like the same amount of money as Mourinho aims to build his second great Blues side.
Although Mourinho has had millions to spend, the net figures* in his second spell show compare favourably with the amounts spent by Chelsea's main Premier League rivals.

Since Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea in 2013:
    Chelsea have spent £65.409m (net)
    Liverpool have spent £64.43m (net)
    Arsenal have spent £86.3m (net)
Manchester City have spent £113.8m (net)
Manchester United have spent £179.9m (net)
    Broken down as follows…

Chelsea's net spend since Jose Mourinho returned in summer 2013: £65.409m

Liverpool's net spend since Mourinho returned to Chelsea: £64.43m

Arsenal's net spend since Mourinho returned to Chelsea: £86.3m

Manchester City's net spend since Mourinho returned to Chelsea: £113.8m

Manchester United's net spend since Mourinho returned to Chelsea: £179.9m
(Note: Figures only include fees paid for permanent transfer, does not include reported £6m loan fee for Radamel Falcao)
