Real Madrid beat Basel 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League
to secure their 15th consecutive win of the season, leveling the club
record set by Jose Mourinho.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 35th-minute goal was enough to secure all three points and also top spot in Champions League Group B.
"I am happy to have levelled the record of consecutive wins for Real Madrid.
"As I said yesterday anything we can do to become a further part of the history of this fantastic club is great for me personally and the players.
"I think the majority of the credit must go to the players who are performing brilliantly this season."
Mourinho repeated the feat almost half a century later. The Portuguese coach guided the team to 10 league wins and five in the Champions League between Sept. 24 and Dec. 7 2011, before that run was halted by Barcelona who ran out 3-1 winners at the Bernabeu.
Ancelotti also has the chance to equal another of Mourinho's club records with Madrid, with the current Chlesea boss the only Los Blancos coach to secure a 100 percent record in the Champions League group stage, managing the feat during the 2011-12 season.
