Insert Cech pun here...
No more wordplay with Peter Cech's name, just some new down-and-dirty gossip on the former Chelsea No. 1 from The Daily Star. It seems Arsenal have held talks with Chelsea already and are closing on a deal to bring the 32-year-old to the Emirates for 7 million pounds in January. The return of Thibaut Courtois to Stamford Bridge this season made Cech an instant second-choice for Jose Mourinho. That hasn't sat well with Cech, who understandably wants, and thinks he deserves, first team minutes.
With Arsene Wenger looking for cover and competition for his current No. 1 Wojciech Szczesny, the move for the Czech Republic man could come at a perfect time for all parties.
Hummels mess coming clean
There's a new wrinkle in the ongoing Mats Hummels to Manchester United saga. The Guardian are reporting that Louis van Gaal's plans to bring Hummels in during the summer of 2015 may well be accelerated.Hummels has battled injury all season since he helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Now with Dortmund languishing at the bottom of the Bundesliga table, it might finally be time for Jurgen Klopp and company to cash in on the defensive midfielder.
For his part, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward says the club are not looking for "short-term fixes" but that if any of their targets for next summer become available in the winter they will definitely consider acting.
Altidore out the door?
Sunderland have made it very clear that Jozy Altidore is not their first-choice striker. The American has yet to start a game in the Premier League this season, even though he is captaining his country in international friendlies. The truth is, Altidore has been a bit of a journeyman since moving to Europe, from Villarreal to Hull to AZ Alkmaar to Sunderland. Now another move to the continent could be on the table next season. That's because French club Lille will be desperate for a striker after on-loan Divock Origi returns to Liverpool.
According to The Daily Mail, Lille see Altidore as the perfect replacement for Origi. It only remains to be seen if they would fork over the cash to get a striker who has failed to impress for over a year now.
Sunderland paid AZ 7 million pounds for Altidore's services, and the Black Cats can't afford to let that kind of money slip away without a little reimbursement.
Tap-ins
Juventus striker Sebastian Giovinco seems ready to jump ship from Serie A to the Premier League, but he's advising potential suitors Arsenal and Liverpool to wait until the summer when he'll be available on a free move. How thoughtful.Galatasaray have confirmed that 20-year-old midfielder Bruma's services are being sought by a number of clubs including Genoa, Chelsea, Man United, Everton and Sunderland. The Turkish side suggested that any team with serious interest should act fast and bring cash and "pay the money up front."
Bury's League Two teammates Nathan Cameron and Danny Mayor are attracting interest from approximately 20 Premier League and Championship sides. Scouts came from all around to watch the two in their FA Cup match vs. Hemel Hempstead, with Cameron showing well and scoring for the onlookers.
