Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has admitted Chelsea were the only team from the Premier League he would have swapped Bayern Munich for during the summer.
The German international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United throughout last season as he was earmarked as the man to solve their midfield problems.

Plenty of speculation arose over his future as his contract at Bayern Munich wound down and the arrival of Louis Van Gaal as the Red Devils’ new boss seemingly enhanced the possibility of moving to Old Trafford.
Kroos, however, ended up trading the Bavarians for La Liga giants Real Madrid for a reported €30 million and joined a host of world class stars in the Spanish capital.

Asked on his transfer during the summer, the 24-year-old admitted that the Blues were one of only three clubs that could have lured him away from the Bundesliga champions.
"I'm happy to have been given the chance to try something new. Even though it's only been a short while I fell like it was the right decision.” He said, quoted by the Spanish publication AS.

“Madrid is a special club and the challenge I was looking for after my long and successful career at Bayern. Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona and Chelsea are the four biggest clubs at the moment, so I would only have swapped one for another."

Kroos has made a promising start to life with Los Merengues, starting in all seven La Liga games to date and recording three assists.

The recent World Cup winner has won his fair share of plaudits over the past 18 months with former United ace Paul Scholes stating last season he ‘was the player that United needed to sign most’.
