'Arrogant' Van Gaal: Manchester United can win Premier League title
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal explains his
disappointment about the two dropped points against West Brom, but happy
with his style of play.
Louis van Gaal believes Manchester United can still win the Premier
League title despite trailing leaders Chelsea by 10 points after just
eight games.
Two days after Jose Mourinho's side put in another solid display to
beat Crystal Palace and maintain their unbeaten start to the season,
United struggled to a 2-2 draw at West Bromwich Albion on Monday night that left Van Gaal "very disappointed."
And it will not get any easier for United, as they welcome Chelsea at
Old Trafford on Sunday before a trip to neighbours and reigning
champions Manchester City seven days later.
When asked if he felt United could catch Chelsea, Van Gaal said: "It
is possible, but I am arrogant because I have done it a lot of times.
United needed a late goal from Daley Blind to rescue a point at the Hawthorns.
"I think Chelsea is another level and Manchester City also, so we
have to see if we can beat them and after the matches I can say yes or
no."
Despite the self-professed arrogance, Van Gaal realises the size of
the task in hand -- even if he did have difficulty explaining it.
After the West Brom game, he said: "Now we have to play against
Chelsea. In the Netherlands they say that is another cookie, I don't
know if in English it is like that. It is another biscuit. You don't
understand? It's another level."
