The Argentine has not trained since
picking up a groin injury and a dead leg against West Bromwich Albion,
but is scheduled for a full session on Saturday
Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria stepped up his attempts to be fit to face Chelsea with a light training session on Friday morning.
Di Maria has not trained or done any ball work all week after picking up a groin injury and a dead leg in the 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening.
The Argentine was withdrawn late on at the Hawthorns and was immediately given an ice pack to soothe pain in his upper leg.
United medical staff have given him intensive treatment since he returned to the club's Carrington training ground on Tuesday, and he has now stepped up his recovery with some basic training.
The 26-year-old, who commanded a British transfer record €75 million when he joined from Real Madrid this summer, is scheduled for a full training session on Saturday in a bid to ready him for the Old Trafford clash.
Di Maria has been in impressive form for the Red Devils this season, scoring three goals and setting up four more in six Premier League appearances.
