The 33-year-old spent three seasons with the Nerazzurri and finished his final campaign at San Siro as Serie A's top goalscorer, before making his bold prediction upon departing.
However, the Swede was proven wrong as Jose Mourinho led the club to their first ever Champions League title and a historic treble success the following season.
Moratti has now revealed the final hours of the Paris Saint-Germain striker's time with Inter, but admitted he is still a big admirer of his talents.
"He was getting on a plane to Barcelona after his last training session with the team. He said: 'It's been nice playing with you, but you won't win anything without me'. But it didn't turn out that way.
"He is an incredibly talented player and above all he wins you titles. With him, we won three straight league titles. I watched a re-run of the game against Parma in May 2008 and Ibrahimovic was fantastic."
Unfortunately for Inter, success has deserted them ever since their famous trophy haul back in 2010, as they finished fifth last season, before sacking coach Walter Mazzarri in November.
Roberto Mancini was appointed as his successor, taking charge of the club for a second time as they bid to revive their ailing fortunes under their new owner, Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir.
