The Portuguese scored all three for Real Madrid in
their 3-0 win at home to Celta Vigo and the Argentine struck a superb
treble in Barcelona's 5-1 thrashing of Espanyol
The Portuguese set a new record for hat-tricks in the Primera Division (23) with all three in Real Madrid's 3-0 success at home to Celta Vigo on Saturday and the Argentine added another treble to his collection with his 21st in Barcelona's 5-1 win over Espanyol in the Catalan derby.
There were wins too for Atletico, Cordoba, Malaga, Sevilla, Villarreal and Eibar. And here, Goal looks at the standout performers from the 14th round of games in La Liga.
In goal, Carlos Kameni was a hero for Malaga as he saved a penalty and made several superb stops as the Andalusians achieved a 1-0 victory away to Deportivo La Coruna.
At the back, Raul Navas scored as Eibar produced a stunning 5-2 win over Almeria, while Jose Maria Gimenez was excellent in a rare outing for Atletico and netted a superb strike for the champions in their 2-0 success at Elche. Diego Godin, as always, was solid alongside him.
In midfield, Bruno set Villarreal on their way to a fine 4-0 win over Real Sociedad with a free kick and team-mate Moi Gomez came off the bench to score twice for Marcelino's men in a superb performance. Manu del Moral was excellent for Eibar on Monday and Gabi shone for Atletico, setting up Mario Mandzukic with a wonderful chipped pass for his side's second goal.
Further forward, Luciano Vietto did everything but score on another impressive display for Villarreal, while Ronaldo and Messi inspired Madrid and Barcelona respectively with a hat-trick apiece as the Portuguese made it 200 goals in La Liga and the Argentine passed 400 for the Catalan club including friendlies.
